So as in all things I do, I am taking the ‘constant and never ending improvement’ approach to blogging. In reading the Site Sketch 101 tips on how to be a successful blogger, I found some basic tips for all you other bloggers out there. Some are pretty obvious, and others may just be good reminders. But, as in the martial arts, solid basics make for good outcomes.

Here they are in list format to make it easy to read and remember:

1. Comments make a blog successful. They’re a way for you to communicate with your audience. Always respond to them.
2. Make unique content, and lots of it. Update whenever possible.
3. Provide resources. Know of a helpful website? Link to it.
4. If you’re planning on advertising, don’t just buy ad space randomly. Instead, use social sites (twitter, facebook, etc.) to spread the word. People will be more interested if you seem like a real, likable person, not just a link on a page.
5. Don’t write what you don’t believe in.
